In the vision statement of STT HKBP, it is mentioned that the institution aims to "graduate students who are excellent and prominent in the field of Biblical studies in Southeast Asia." To achieve this vision, one of the strategic steps taken is to establish extensive cooperation/partnership with various theological educational institutions and missionary organizations, particularly in Southeast Asia, Asia, and even globally.
As part of this vision's implementation, in March 2024, STT HKBP signed a cooperation agreement with the Lutheran Heritage Foundation (LHF), a mission organization focused on the development of Martin Luther's theology for the purpose of spreading the Gospel. The Thailand Concordia Lutheran Church (TLCC) was born out of the evangelistic efforts conducted by LHF. This church was officially established in 2004, and this year, they are celebrating their 20th anniversary. To commemorate two decades of the church’s journey, from October 7 to 14, 2024, they are hosting a series of seminars and mission orientations with the theme "Touched by His Grace" (Ephesians 2:8-10).
As a continuation of the cooperation established, STT HKBP Pematangsiantar has been invited to attend the anniversary celebrations held in Bangkok, Thailand. This event will be attended by representatives from various countries in Southeast Asia and America that have maintained cooperative relationships with LHF and TLCC, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Myanmar, Cambodia, Canada, and the United States. Each representative is asked to prepare a brief presentation about their profile and mission.
Honoring this invitation, Rev. Dr. Sukanto Limbong, as the chairman of STT HKBP, attended the event, accompanied by Rev. Morrys S. Marpaung. The gathering of representatives from several countries provides an excellent opportunity for STT HKBP to initiate broader cooperation at the Southeast Asian and global levels. Through the presentations made during this meeting, Rev. Dr. Sukanto Limbong introduced the profile of STT HKBP and explained potential collaborations for the development of theological studies, particularly Lutheran theology and mission, addressing fundamental questions such as: a. How do we deal with situations that are confronting us today?; b. How can we collaborate to serve Christ and His mission?; c. What does it mean to be a Christian?
